Ayurveda, My Ally in the Battle Against Breast Cancer and My Entrepreneurial Challenge
Embracing a Holistic Approach
From the onset of my diagnosis, I felt a deep need to take on a holistic approach, aiming to complement conventional medicine, not replace it. The goal was clear: to work in harmony with my body, mind, and soul to promote healing.
It was during this journey that my friend Bérengère came into the picture. She is an Ayurvedic Doctor in southern India and practices at the Auroville Institute for Integral Health. This is a comprehensive health clinic where, under one roof, four types of medicine come together based on individual diagnoses and patients' healing preferences: conventional/allopathic, Ayurvedic, Chinese, and homeopathic.
She introduced me to this ancient science while emphasizing the importance of its complementarity with my conventional treatments. Thankfully, my oncologist at the Bordet Institute was supportive and understanding, recognizing the importance of a multifaceted healing approach.
The Ayurvedic Morning Awakening
Each morning, I start my Ayurvedic routine, always inspired by our motto: "Be what moves you." Movement, be it physical, emotional, or spiritual, is crucial in my healing journey.
Ashwagandha provides me with the daily dose of strength and resilience I need to battle the illness. Following an invigorating meditation and some stretches, my breakfast consists of a spirulina-enriched smoothie, a superfood that boosts my energy and reminds me that our difference is our strength.
A Lunch with Anti-inflammatory Benefits
Around noon, I prepare a nourishing meal, accompanied by turmeric, known for its potent anti-inflammatory properties. Activated by a touch of Cayenne pepper, this mix has helped me combat inflammation and pain associated with my condition. For an afternoon pick-me-up, I rely on revitalizing ginger, which replenishes my energy, helping me stay in motion and ease episodes of nausea.
Dinner to Boost Immune System
Post-mastectomy and radiation treatments were challenging, but incorporating garlic into my dinners helped bolster my immune system, providing an extra line of defense against potential infections. This routine, combined with conventional medicine, has allowed me to mitigate the side effects of treatments and establish a deeper connection with my body.
Ayurveda and Entrepreneurial Revival
My Ayurvedic routines are not just relics of the past; they continue to shape my daily life. They provide the balance, mental clarity, and vitality I need for the successful growth of my business.
