Tummy Control Swimsuits for Women

A tummy control swimsuit doesn’t have to change your body. It should support it.

Which tummy control swimsuit for my body shape?

No swimsuit is “off limits” for any body shape. These guides simply show how different cuts play with the lines of the body. The best choice is always the one you feel good in.

A · Triangle

1 / 5

A-shape

Hips more pronounced than shoulders.

You can play with a cut that structures the upper body while keeping the lines simple around the hips.

Why?

Their structured lines naturally draw the eye to the top of the swimsuit and support the body without trying to change its proportions.

V · Inverted triangle

2 / 5

V-shape

Shoulders more pronounced than hips.

A cut that creates movement in the silhouette can bring visual balance while leaving the shoulders free.

Why?

The adjustable lines of La Versatile and the asymmetry of The Fierce play with the eye rather than emphasising a horizontal line at the shoulders.

O · Curves

5 / 5

O-shape

Fuller curves around the bust and tummy.

If you want more support around the tummy, choose above all a comfortable cut that stays in place when you move. Nothing to hide away: the aim is to feel well held.

Why?

The Allure lets you adjust the effect of its belt yourself. The tankini gives more coverage over the tummy while keeping the freedom of a two-piece.

How do I know my body shape?

Simply stand in front of a mirror and look at three lines: your shoulders, your waist and your hips.

If your hips are more pronounced than your shoulders, your silhouette is closer to an A. If your shoulders are more pronounced, a V. If shoulders, waist and hips are fairly aligned, an H. A clearly defined waist with balanced shoulders and hips is closer to an X. Fuller curves around the bust and tummy, an O.

But these categories are only guides. A body can sit between two shapes — and change over time.

Your body doesn’t have to fit a letter to fit an ikonō.

What is a tummy control swimsuit?

A tummy control swimsuit is designed to give more support and smooth lines under the fabric. The effect comes from the combination of fabric, lining and cut.

It won’t make you lose weight or change your body shape. It supports the body and can give a feeling of extra hold around the tummy, bust and hips.

At ikonō, we prefer to talk about support and shaping rather than promise a “flat tummy”. All our swimsuits are worn in your usual size: going a size down doesn’t make a swimsuit more supportive, just less comfortable.

Inclusive by design

Supportive. And adaptive by design.

Support is only one part of ikonō design. Our swimsuits are also made for bodies that change: their discreet pockets hold one, two or no breast prostheses, without changing how the swimsuit looks.

Surgery, the years or simply life: we design swimsuits that adapt to the body, rather than asking the body to adapt to the swimsuit.

Your questions

Which swimsuit should I choose if I have a tummy?

If you want support around the tummy, choose a fully lined swimsuit and a cut that stays in place when you move. A one-piece gives a continuous line; a tankini gives more coverage; a high-waisted bikini lets you adjust the level of support. Most important of all, choose your usual size.

What’s the difference between a tummy control and a sculpting swimsuit?

Both terms usually describe swimsuits with extra support. “Tummy control” is associated with support around the tummy, “sculpting” with shaping the silhouette. The actual construction of the swimsuit matters more than the word used.

Should I go a size down for more tummy control?

No. A swimsuit that is too small can mark the skin, ride up or become uncomfortable. Choose your usual size and look for support in the fabric, lining and cut.

Which tummy control swimsuit suits my body shape?

Body shape can be a guide, but it doesn’t dictate your choice. A belted cut defines the waist, asymmetry creates movement, a tankini gives more coverage and a sporty cut favours freedom of movement. Choose first according to what you want to feel and do in your swimsuit.

Are there tummy control swimsuits with pockets for breast prostheses?

Yes. ikonō swimsuits combine support with discreet pockets for one, two or no breast prostheses. They still look like a contemporary swimsuit.

Be What Moves You.

Your silhouette isn’t a rule to follow.

Neither is your swimsuit.
